SUMMARY:Ignite Chicago at Catalyst Ranch in February
DESCRIPTION:Punxsutawney Phil ain’t the only one with a forecast…\nIgnite Chicago predicts an early thaw..\n \n\nIgnite Chicago at Catalyst Ranch in February is a high-energy evening of 5-minute talks by people who have a burning idea—and the guts to get onstage and share it with their hometown crowd.\n  \n  \n  \n \nAttending this evening’s Ignite Chicago does good for the city and for your neighbors. All proceeds from Ignite Chicago at Catalyst Ranch in February go toward funding the volunteer-run\, nonprofit organization CoderDojoChi\, which teaches web\, game and app development to youth ages 7 to 17. So when you buy your ticket to expand your mind at Ignite Chicago\, you effectively contribute to expanding the minds of young people in our beloved city! \n \nSpeaking at Ignite is an unforgettable experience. You step up to the mic. Your palms sweat. You can hear the thump of your blood rushing. Your voice cracks for an instant and then you launch into a rant for 300 straight seconds\, wearing your passion on your sleeve\, barely pausing to breathe. The crowd goes wild. \nIgnite Chicago at Catalyst Ranch in February is open to everyone. All talks are 5 minutes (20 slides x 15 seconds/slide). \n \nThere is no theme for Ignite. You can talk about virtually anything as long as you can show us your passion for it. What’s the thing you most geek out about? What’s the topic of conversation that quickens your pulse and sets your toe a-tappin’? That is what we want to hear you speak about. \nAll speakers get equal time and equal billing. All talks are 5 minutes. You create 20 slides\, and we set them up to auto-advance every 15 seconds. \nWant to speak?\nThe audience at Ignite is generous and patient. They know the Ignite format is difficult\, and they realize you might be an absolute beginner at public speaking. Don’t worry – they’ve got your back. You’re giving them your passion and your vulnerability\, and they love you for that. You won’t find a more appreciative audience at any other event. \nSome people think Ignite is about self-help talks. It isn’t. Nobody wants to hear a preachy pep talk. We’re already “good enough and smart enough\,” so let’s keep this about you and your passionate ideas. \nFinally\, we’re serious about the no pitching thing. We know that sometimes a speaker must mention their profession in order to give their talk context\, which is totally fine. But Ignite is not the place to tout your organization or to troll for clients. \nClick the logo for tickets.\n \n\n \nFind out more about the maestro behind both Ignite Chicago and CoderDojoChi\, Ali Karbassi\, by clicking here!

SUMMARY:Use your Next Leadership Retreat to Launch a Transformation: Learn the Process
DESCRIPTION:Use your Next Leadership Retreat to Launch a Transformation: Learn the Process\n \nSeptember 24\, 2018\n12 noon to 4:30\n$150\nClick here to register!\nNeed to launch a new way of being together with those you work with? Is it vital that your team\, organization\, or merging groups become more aligned\, enthusiastic and creative together\, in order to achieve something important to you? \nLearn a powerful 6-question coaching model for using the focal point of a leadership retreat — or series of meetings — to create a process that launches a transformation in mindset and behavior – and may result in unpredictable outcomes. Great for leaders of new initiatives\, newly merged groups or organizations\, leaders in new roles\, and leaders who need those in their team or organization to collaborate at a higher level of purpose and creativity to achieve more ambitious outcomes. \nWhether you are taking on a new role\, team\, or initiative\, or\, you want to initiate a reset\, raising the level of energy\, results or sense of mission within your organization\, a leadership retreat can be a pivotal investment in your success. How you engage with participants can make all the difference. How you speak about\, plan\, prepare for and conduct this particular meeting can be a transformative process. “Retreat” may stimulate thoughts of exotic locales\, lengthy slide presentations and seemingly frivolous exercises. However\, a retreat can be a transformative tool for setting a new tone and direction\, impacting how people communicate and think about their roles and how they work together. It can expand what’s possible for your organization and how it operates. \nIn essence\, a Transformational Leadership Retreat process is a coaching intervention for a group or organization. \nIn this seminar\, you will learn and work with a powerful planning model\, based on 6 key coaching questions. The questions\, and the seminar discussions and exercises guide you in utilizing a retreat event as a focal point for a process designed to create sustainable behavior change\, a shift in mindset and actions. The process involves leadership getting in touch with the urgency for change\, clarifying outcome measures\, and\, based on that determining what information\, preparation\, agenda\, content\, communication\, learning\, and new practices and structures are needed to create and maintain the changes. \nIn this highly interactive session\, you will:\n\nLearn and work with a powerful model designed to create behavior change\, based on 6 key questions that will change the way you think about retreat planning.\nHear how other leaders benefitted from this process to shift the way team members think about their roles\, the team\, and how it operates\, and infuse new energy\, enthusiasm\, creativity\, commitment into how they work and what’s possible together\nLearn how the way you think about\, plan\, speak about\, conduct the retreat\, and the routines\, practices\, structures of support established and honored afterward can lead to unpredictable outcomes\nApply what you are learning as you begin the process of creating a future retreat\nIdentify structures to put in place\, and structures within the organization that may be impediments to change\nUnderstand your role as facilitator or leader of this process\n\nThis session is highly recommended for leaders:\n\nIn new roles\nOf newly formed teams\nWho wish to set a new direction\nOf merged organizations\nWho need people to operate at a higher magnitude of creativity\, collaboration\, efficiency\, or customer focus\nWho need to transform a situation\, a culture\n\n“Engaging Jackie and Anil to assist in the process to transform the way we think about our work together in the Office of Advancement was a key step in our continuous improvement journey. During our staff retreat\, they helped us to identify organizational and cultural barriers to success. They helped also to build a new vocabulary that supports shared accountability for improvement.” \nRegina D. SUMMARY:A FREE Evening of Meditation Through Music - Love America Tour
DESCRIPTION:A FREE Evening of Meditation Through Music – Love America Tour\n \nThis class will teach the basics and benefits of meditation\, guided by Sahaja Yoga. Our two sessions on August 16th and 17th will cover the basics of Meditation through Music. \nMeditation is best understood as a state of ‘mental silence’ in which one is fully alert and aware but free of the unnecessary thoughts or worries that lead to many of life’s daily stresses. \nThis state of silence occurs spontaneously when one learns how to focus on the experience of the present moment\, leading to a state of peace and calm. Through a simple process known as self-realization\, this meditation state can be quickly established\, maintained and most importantly\, enjoyed! \nParticipants in our workshops will learn the practical techniques of meditation\, and how to immediately apply it on a daily basis.\n  \n \n  \n  \nLove America is bringing meditation instructors from around the world to the United States\, to share the benefits of meditation as a freely given community service. Meditation is now widely accepted and practiced across the country. Many know the benefits but lack the opportunity or motivation to take the first step. Our trained volunteers will visit major cities across the USA offering free\, easy access classes in workplaces and in the community. \nOur instructors consist of young people from across the world who because of their respect for the great qualities that the USA has advocated and espoused in the last century\, have come to the US to share their experiences with meditation and knowledge of inner peace. \nClick the poster below for tickets!
