To celebrate our upcoming 12 year anniversary, Catalyst Ranch is putting together 12 Days of Creative Inspiration. Inspiration is all around us, and we’re looking high and low for unexpected sources of creative inspiration. Where do you find inspiration? Maybe it is in something tactile like gardening or in the visual arts or in a piece of music. Starting today, we’re posting one unique source of inspiration on Pinterest every day until our anniversary on November 7 in the hopes that it will inspire you!

12 Days 1 Room for Art

The barter method has been used around the globe for centuries. The Clarion Hotel Stockholm put a clever twist on this practice by allowing guests to barter for a room rental with their art. The arts are an important part of the guest experience at the Clarion Hotel Stockholm; musicians and DJs provide live music at the hotel every weekend. The hotel commissioned several prominent Scandinavian artists to create works specifically for the hotel’s décor. Additionally, the hotel occasionally collaborates with artists, galleries, and museums to host exhibitions for their guests to enjoy.

The Clarion Hotel Stockholm recently began accepting artwork in exchange for rooms from artists who visit. Hotel guests can “pay” for one night with a piece of artwork up to two times per year. Stuttgart’s Performance Hotel is following suit and offering its guests the chance to pay for a one-night stay by performing a reading, concert, or dance.

Join the celebration!  Please share your inspiration in the comments below, on Facebook, or on Pinterest!
