We’ve had an amazing ten years in business and it’s all thanks to our fantastic clients and supporters. We’ve had some great times and created incredible memories. Here’s a look at our top ten faves. Want to help us make some more? Be sure to join us for FanFair: Catalyst Ranch’s 10th Anniversary Party by RSVPing here.
10. Catalyst Ranch Design (2003)
A big part of the Catalyst Ranch experience is the design of our space. Ranch Czarina Eva Niewiadomski has always had a passion for ethnic art, nostalgic furniture, and bold and stimulating colors. (Heck, her home is pretty much a mini-Catalyst Ranch). Clients and attendees have attributed the success of their meetings to the fun atmosphere, so it shouldn’t have come as a complete surprise when the University of Illinois Chicago commissioned Catalyst Ranch to “ranchify” their study hall area, almost exactly a year to the day that the Ranch opened. Eva teamed up with some brilliant freelance designers and artists for the project, and thus our side business Catalyst Ranch Design was born.

 9. Our Life-Size Kaleidoscope (2006)
In 2006, we participated in the Creative Problem Solving Institute Conference. Charged with the challenge of helping attendees “see the world with new eyes” in the recreation lounge, we created a life-size, walk-in kaleidoscope.
You can see our kaleidoscope live and in action at our 10th Anniversary Party!
8. Social Media Week (2010)
As the center of creativity and innovation, we like to stay on top of trends in multiple industries. So when we found out the global event Social Media Week was coming to Chicago in 2011, we had to participate! We rounded up a few of the coolest people we know, including Tim McDonald (now the Community Manager at Huffington Post), Sue Koch of Soaring Solutions, Staci Diamond and Samantha Hosenkamp of Ragan Communications, James Coston (now an associate with Osborn & Barr), Neal Ryan Shaw of Newcity Magazine, DePaul marketing student Rebecca Dickson, and our pal Mark Carter (who’ll you’ll find out more about later) for a fun and informative discussion on social media and generational use.
The panel inspired such dynamic discussions (both off-and-online) that we came back in 2012 for a panel discussion on social media and gender demographics.
7. Twestival (2009)
Remember a world without Twitter? It’s hard for us to conceive of as well. But as the world was figuring out how to use the microblogging platform for marketing and branding purposes, our friend Mark J. Carter wanted to harness its potential to make the world a better place.  In 2009, he helped lead the Chicago wing of a global event spanning 133 cities around the world. Twestival (or Twitter Festival) uses social media for social good by connecting communities offline on a single day to highlight a great cause and have a fun event. Since 2009, Twestival has raised $1.75 million for over 275 nonprofits with 100% of all ticket sales and donations going direct to projects. We are proud to hosted this event in both 2009 and 2010.

6. EventCamp (2011)
EventCamp is the world’s first industry gathering of its kind, a “BarCamp-style” conference. Their ongoing mission is to bring together like-minded professionals, to share best practices, and learn new strategies, for leveraging social media and technology to create enhanced event experiences. Their first conference was in New York City in 2010. When they came to Chicago in 2011, we were proud to be their official venue!

That does it for the countdown this week! Check back here next Wednesday for our Top 5 Favorite Moments in Catalyst Ranch history! And if you haven’t yet, RSVP for the party!
